How long will You forget me?
How long will You hide your face?
I have a longing to see,
For I have felt in disgrace.
How long must I take counsel?
How long must I have sorrow?
My heart and soul to cancel,
There will be no tomorrow.
How long will You laud my foes?
Please think of answering me;
Of what thoughts do You suppose
Considered more righteously.
O Lord my God, light my eyes,
Lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Please help me to become wise,
Or remove air from my breath.
I have prevailed over him,
Yet my enemies rejoice;
This trouble makes me feel grim,
I want an alternate choice.
I have trusted in Your love,
My heart looks for salvation;
For Your blessings from above,
With a worthy foundation.
I sing unto You O Lord,
Since You dealt generously;
My embracing not ignored,
Look upon me righteously.
